Hi everyone, Jair-Rohm here.
In our last blog post, I touched on the importance of improvisation in Doom Dogs. Today, I want to shine a spotlight on one of the incredible musicians that make this project so special: our drummer, Jonathan Kane.
Jonathan isn't just any drummer; he's a musical force with a wealth of experience. He’s known for his work with Swans, a band that has been hugely influential in the experimental rock scene, and has also worked with the minimalist composer La Monte Young. These collaborations have shaped his approach to rhythm and sound. As the only drummer for Rhys Chatham’s 100-guitar orchestra, Jonathan had to be in touch with the nuances of so many other musical forces.
He also leads his own band, Jonathan Kane's February, where he explores a kind of trance-blues sound. In Doom Dogs, his drumming style is characterized by a powerful and hypnotic presence. He drives our improvisations with precision and intensity, making sure that we stay grounded while we explore new sonic territories. We are lucky to have his steady hand guiding us, and I can’t wait to share his sound with you all.
